Where do I begin?

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends! The weather here couldn't have been any better.
I'd like to catch you up on what's been taking place around here. It hasn't been pretty, or fun to deal with...
Things could be worse. I have decided that if I have to work on an area of the home
then I'm going full guns and doing everything that needs to be done. Ready or not.
Clearly this is not being done on my time table, or in the order I would have selected.
So I have named this PHASE 1

It all started with this.

A brick wall leaning, and slowly leaning more. Little by little the wall is moving.
A tree root can do this. So in comes the best guy a girl can know.
Her beloved contractor.

Now we can get to the good stuff...

The walls coming down, and the patio is being broken up, and
removed. New concrete will be installed with a flag stone border.

Embarrassing yes, and

humiliating!

But here's where it get better. Operation Phase 1 has just allowed me
to relocate this horrendous placement of the air conditioning. Who in their
right mind would place this here? Open the gate, and walk in to
the air conditioner. Bad, just bad. And ugly!

Unleash the value by removing it and relocating it.
The patio's looking better already.

The back wall is plagued with ugly. Wiring gone wild! So bad...

This will disappear. Outlets will be added for a fountain, and landscape
lights will appear with wiring underground.
Slowly the turn around begins. Until then I'm living with this.

Concrete blocks will replace the brick wall. I don't have any bricks, so my side will be stucco.
The neighbors will be a brick.

We're adding height to the max limit. 6'. This will add to the privacy
factor, and cut down on the shining light from the other side.

Meanwhile....the dumpster that was ordered didn't arrive.

The patio is in rubble. Luckily for me my family didn't even notice.
That's the trick for Thanksgiving. Having a table set up that takes the spotlight.
Redirect the attention to the food. It's all about the food.

Next week will be a turning point.
So please
stay tuned for the updates.

By the way, I got a new lamp that I just adore!

Love it!

Thanks for stopping in today,

Sharon

  2. You're not going to believe it. My friend called me because she saw it at the Salvation Army store $20. The next day was 1/2 off. Yes $10. I was there when they opened and also scored a wicker urn! Who knew!!!

  5. Funny you should mention mud! The dumpster never arrived, the patios broken into rubble, and now a big rain! Oh well! In the middle of it, termites were detected, my home was treated. Ugh. All part of the process. As soon as the rain stops, progress will begun. The good news? The wall is taller, no gaps, and I feel like it's already more private. Next week, we will see the end.
