On a side note...

alifornia living room ~ Mark D. Sikes design

On a side note here, I'm really feeling black and white. Don't panic...
I'll never give up my blue and white!
I could look at this room over and over again. In fact, every inch of this
home is perfection.

I went out of town for work last week and when I got home, drum roll please,
the concrete was laid! Wow, this was a long time in the making. It was worth the wait, and
now it's going to rain once again. No complaints here, as we need it, and I won't be tracking in sand and mud.

I'm noticing much more modern art mixed with traditional.
Actually, mixed with anything.

I hope I'm able to incorporate some of the wonderful design
elements shown here in The House of Hampton. I love the stone pillars and
black door. Of course we have to give a nod to the lighting fixture too.

Speaking of lighting.....

A few more tweaks have to be done and then the lighting will
be installed. I have to say that it was a major expense and
I'm hoping it pays off. I'm mostly looking forward to the front door, and
copula light. That's still being debated, but in my mind, it's
a done deal!

As soon as it's installed, you know I'll be sharing.

Thanks for stopping by,

Sharon

  1. Ooooh how I ADORE that first picture. Love all the layers. What a feast for the eyes! Happy for you that your walkway is now solid. Batten down the hatches for the new storm! Take care.

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for stopping in today! I'm so happy not to be walking on sand, mud, and leaves. So I say " bring it on" and let the rain fall. As soon as I finish the outside I can start to layer it up the inside. As the rain falls, I'm reminded of how grateful I am for the new roof!!!

  2. LOVE black and white I wish I had it in my own home. It mixes well with other colors and is so interesting when used correctly. I love the images you chose.

    1. You touched on something here.."when used correctly". I'm recovering my dining room chairs. I'm using white with a wide black stripe right down the middle. I hope it works! I'll be posting, so please be honest. I might just do one and get some feed back...
