I thought it might be fun to post some update pictures.
You know how one thing leads to another? Well, it started with the fireplace,
then grew to the dining room walls. Floor to ceiling no less. Then, with my "as long as you're here"
attitude, a few other things were added.
So as long as you understand that this is for educational purposes only, I won't make
you wait any longer.
I first have to take you back to the beginning. It's just so bad.
The weird long brick hearth was removed. Luckily, I enjoy
cleaning out the garage and found boxes of the flooring tile.
A friend suggested that I run it to the fire box.
Problem solved. Thank you friends!
You can see here the tile is in, with spacers, but has yet
to be grouted. That will happen tomorrow when the marble
goes around the box. Speaking of marble...
It was really hard buying something your not in love with, but yet you know it
will work with the floor. It really was the best choice,
just not the direction I wanted to go. I have made that mistake in the
past and have decided not to make that mistake again.
Thank you. Once was enough.
It's starting to take shape.
I can't stop at just the bottom. I had to continue all the way up.
I have big ideas for this room.
I decided to carry it over to the other side for balance.
If you've noticed the fireplace is not centered on the wall.
So, I have a solution for that and I will show you later on.
We also ended up adding panels above the sliding windows.
They really should be french doors. Another bad choice by previous
I have learned a few things along the way.
I have also been living here for over a year and a half.
I wan't to start a project, and complete it.
No more living with incomplete projects.
If the wood work can get done in these two rooms, and I have to wait for paint,
so be it. I want to finish each project before I move on to another.
I also immediately felt the size of the room grow once the brick
hearth was destroyed, okay, removed, and the tile was extended
up to the wall. That was a really nice feeling when I opened the
salon doors and experienced the visual change.
Meanwhile back at the entry...
Flowers always make me happy.
As I said before, the marble goes on tomorrow and I will
be updating that ASAP.
Now for a good laugh, scroll all the way to the top!
